Devon & Cornwall Winter 2022 Newsletter

Praa Sands

We are delighted to have been able to re-introduce our popular quiz night back to The Boathouse! Join us every Wednesday at 8pm, for your chance to win the pot! Teams can be a maximum of 6 people and it is only £2 per person to enter – remember you have to be in it to win it! To book your table, please contact The Boathouse team, who will be more than happy to help.

As we head into 2022, there are various projects taking place, the first of which is set to include new street lighting throughout the park, as well as various roads being relayed. We are also keen to hear from you, as to what improvements to feel to be necessary across the park. Should you have any ideas, please contact the reception team with your suggestions. Whilst we can’t promise to do everything, we will endeavor to do as much as we can.

Dartmoor View

Please join us in welcoming Craig Hallett who has recently joined our maintenance team! Craig is quickly finding his feet and getting to grips with the park and looking forward to meeting you all in due course. Do give him a wave and say hello if you see him out and about!

You will also already be aware that our next-generation Wi-Fi installation is well underway. However, we are experiencing a slight delay in the works being completed due to the availability of specific equipment required. All being well, we anticipate that the new system will be up and running by the end of February, but if any further delays are experienced, we’ll be sure to let you know. Please be assured that the current system will remain in place until the new system has passed all testing and is ready to be rolled out across the park.

Holmans Wood

A very big thank you to all our owners who attended the Christmas meal at The Highwayman’s Haunt. We hope that you all enjoyed it, and we look forward to arranging some more social events throughout 2022.

Hopefully, most of you will have had a chance to meet your new park manager, Gavin. For those that haven’t, get to know a little more about him in our ‘meet the team’ section a little further down!  We are also delighted to confirm that our new play park is now fully installed, open, and ready for you to use. We hope that you will all agree that it is a fantastic addition to the park and that your little ones enjoy using it!

We know that some of you have expressed your concerns regarding the security of the park. In the hope of giving you peace of mind, until we are able to re-install the barrier, we have arranged for Finlake’s security team to make nightly visits to the park. Whilst on-site, they will of course be able to deal with any noise or complaints you may have.

Devon Hills

As many of you may have seen, we are in the process of re-developing Orchard Park. This is a six-month project, and we will keep you updated with the progress of this throughout.  Please be aware that the laundrette is temporarily closed, as it is located within the development area. We are also looking at plans to potentially relocate the laundrette, if this is something we choose to progress with, we will of course let you know ahead of any works commencing.

We would like to say a big thank you to Myrianthe and Tiff for everything they have done during their time at Devon Hills Leisure and wish them well for their next venture. As we start a new year, we have a team leader, Nathan who will be on hand for any gym or swim queries you may have.

Haulfryn’s Five Star Sublet Scheme

We are currently reviewing all sublets including our own hire fleet to ensure we are maintaining the highest standards possible for our guests, please lookout for an email regarding this. Should you have any questions, please contact your park’s reception where one of the team will be able to help.

Haulfryn’s David Bellamy Blooming Marvellous Pledge for Nature

Further to our last newsletter, we have been delighted to get going with our David Bellamy Blooming Marvellous Pledge for Nature!

Over at Dartmoor View, we have been busy tidying our woodland areas and have installed some bird boxes in areas deemed most appropriate. As we head further into the year, we have lots to come, but up next on our agenda will be planting wild seeds, all in the hope that we can provide habitats for our all-important pollinators!

At Devon Hills, we have hit the ground running and the areas surrounding Lunar Lake had all been pruned, ready for the lake itself to be aerated. We have also ordered beehives, and the team are very excited to start their training to become beekeepers.

At Holmans Wood we have begun working on the pond, removing the mesh from around the banks to allow more natural plant life to grow through, and are currently in the process of sourcing and selecting some aquatic plants to be planted in and around the pond. We will also be relocating some of the fruit trees from the marsh to more suitable locations which will allow them to flourish over the coming months.

As the weather begins to warm at Praa Sands, the grounds team will be out in force spreading our wildflower seed into the hedgerows, tree lines, and our bug hotels adding more colour to our park. Make sure you keep an eye out for all the ladybirds and bees. With the abundance of trees in our park, the team is sourcing bird boxes and hopes to have them installed in time for nesting later in the year.

If you would like to join us in helping create our parks ‘blooming marvellous’ please do contact your parks reception to see how you can get involved.
